Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Willownook (“Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

2. Description of the Service

Willownook is a web application that uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized children's stories based on caregiver-provided inputs. The Service is an educational support tool for caregivers. It is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, therapeutic service, or substitute for professional mental health, behavioral, or pediatric care.

3. Accounts and Eligibility

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to register.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • One account per person unless you have our written consent.

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

Willownook offers a free tier and paid subscription plans with different story generation quotas. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

  • Cancellation: You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.
  • Refunds: We offer refunds at our discretion for billing errors. Contact hello@willownook.com within 7 days of a charge.
  • Price changes: We will notify you by email at least 30 days before any price increase affecting your plan.

5. AI-Generated Content and Limitations

Stories and illustrations are generated by AI models. By using the Service, you acknowledge:

  • AI output can be unpredictable and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent.
  • Generated stories are not reviewed or validated by licensed therapists, psychologists, or pediatric specialists before delivery.
  • Willownook makes no guarantee that a generated story will produce any particular behavioral outcome in a child.
  • You should use your own judgment before reading any generated story to a child.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Generate content that is sexually explicit, violent, hateful, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful.
  • Attempt to extract, reproduce, or resell our prompt system, models, or infrastructure.
  • Circumvent quota limits through scripting, automation, or multiple accounts.
  • Use the Service for commercial resale without our written consent.
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.

7. Ownership and License

Your inputs: You own the intake data you provide (child details, interests, topic). You grant us a limited license to use it solely to operate the Service.

Generated stories: Subject to these Terms and applicable law, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use and share stories generated under your account for personal and family use.

Our platform: The Willownook name, design, underlying software, prompt system, and all related intellectual property remain our exclusive property.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use personal information and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Willownook accounts are for caregivers aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or submit personal information directly. The child details entered in the story intake form are provided by the caregiver, not the child. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle this data.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WILLOWNOOK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms here with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days in advance.
